Assistant Professor, Research and Instructional Librarian

  • Develop, deliver, and assess instruction for the First-Year Writing Program in collaboration with other librarians.

  • Explore, research, and implement the use of emerging technologies for instruction, outreach and assessment.

  • Collaborate with the Tutorial Coordinator to develop modular information literacy tutorials.

  • Streamlining paraprofessional training for the 21st century.

    Special Projects

  • Copy cataloged a multivolume set of Civil War Military supply logs: Union Weapons, Insignia, Uniform Accessories, and Other Equipment for Carmichael Library Archives (2005) which enhanced my experience in copy cataloging.

  • Cataloged approximately 500 Music scores in less than two weeks in collaboration with other professional librarians using streamlined departmentally developed workflow and standards.

  • Researched the quality of service of a paraprofessional versus a professional librarian in the areas of circulation and reference at an academic library. The title of the paper was “An Answer versus the Answer: the Role of the Professional Librarian and Library Paraprofessional in 21st Century Reference.”

  • Independently defined guidelines for metadata schema (Dublin Core) for a class repository project (http://tinyurl.com/c5vnshc).

           

Organized and carried out the move of over 50,000 items as a part of a space management project of all university libraries. This required constant monitoring of shelf space in anticipation of a fluctuating list of items to be received. These items included monographs, government documents, serial records, music journals, and other professional journals.
