Dr. Vishal Lamba has degrees in biotechnology as well as pharmacogenomics, and has built a successful career in health and science. He studied chemistry, zoology, and botany at Garhwal University in Srinagar, India and then bioscience at the University of Roorkee in Roorkee, India. In 1993, after he completed his Master of Science in Biotechnology, he chose to move to the United States. He enrolled in the University of Tennessee in Memphis and began studying pharmacogenomics. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in the field of Pharmacogenomics in 2008 and moved to Minnesota to complete a post-doctoral fellowship.

Dr. Lamba began working as a professor in 2008. He was completing a fellowship at the University of Minnesota and teaching classes to undergraduate and graduate students at the same time. His fellowship program was through the school’s Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Transplantation. Dr. Lamba was interested in how genetics related to the effectiveness of drug therapies and treatments. According to Dr. Lamba, his main research “interest includes understanding the transcriptional and post- transcriptional mechanisms regulating gene expression levels of hepatic drug metabolizing enzymes (DMEs) and transporters.” He uses data on genetics from the Human Genome Project to study how drugs are metabolized and how effective drug therapies are.

Dr. Vishal Lamba has conducted a number of research projects. He has experience as a primary investigator as well as a co-investigator. He enjoys creating hypotheses and testing his theories. Dr. Lamba does not just conduct research, but he is a professor as well. He earned a tenure track position at the University of Minnesota in 2011. He worked in the Department of Experimental and Clinical Pharmacology. He stayed with this university until 2014. That year, he was offered a tenure track position at the University of Florida. Till 2016 he taught undergraduate students and students in the Doctor of Pharmacy program.

Dr. Lamba has spent years building his career in science. His research involves the medical field as well. He is trained and experienced in pharmacogenomics, which is the study of how genetics impact the effectiveness of pharmaceutical drugs. He has taught courses in personalized medicine as well. Dr. Lamba is interested in improving drug therapies and the medical field. He worked hard to earn his degrees, and to earn grants for his research. Dr. Lamba has mentored students as well, so that they can one day make scientific impacts.
