Vincent O'Brien

I am Principal Lecturer in Public Health at the University of Cumbria.

My interests are in exploring the socially contingent nature of health and well being through the use of participatory digital media and creative activities.

I established Visible Voice combining participatory visual ethnography with community engagement to support community development. Visible Voice projects operate in remote mountain communities in Kyrgyzstan, in the Rocinha favela, Rio de Janeiro and with refugees, asylum seekers and other migrants in Europe.

My work focuses on the dynamic relationships between migration, cultural values, social environment and 'health behaviour'.
