The Related tab allows you to associate a given record in a library with any other item, whether or not they are in the same collection. Within the Related tab simply click on the Add button. A pop-up screen will show your libraries. Pick any item (hold down the control key to select multiple items) within the same library then click OK. A one-line description of the related item now appears. If you double-click on that description, it takes you straight to that item's record. You will also notice that the newly related item is, in turn, now related to the item you started out with.

There is no single way to use the related feature. Some users have found it helpful to link items into subjects that cross collections or are somehow not suitable for a collection. Others have used the Related tab to link to items discussed in the Abstract or Notes fields of a record. However you use this feature, bear in mind that links set up in Related are not transitive: if item A is related to B, and B to C, item A will not be automatically related to C. If you want item A related automatically with C, perhaps starting a new collection would better serve your needs.

Cross-library linking is not allowed.
