Why does item information not update in my document after editing it in Zotero?

When you edit item information (e.g. Author, Date, Title, etc.) in Zotero those changes will be transferred to your document the next time you use the Zotero Refresh command in your word processor. If after editing an item in Zotero and refreshing the document the changes are not reflected it means that the cited item in your document is no longer linked to item in your Zotero library. This can happen for a number of reasons such as: 1. Having duplicate items in your library, citing one of the duplicates and then removing it. 2. Accidentally removing an item from your library and then reimporting it. 3. Citing an item with Mendeley and then transferring to Zotero.

Regardless of how cited items become unlinked from your library, you will have to manually relink them by removing the existing unlinked cited items from your document and reinserting those in your library.

If you reinsert an item from your library into a document but it does not update after editing its information and using the Refresh command in the document please post on the Zotero Forums including a Report ID as well as your Word Processor version, the citation style that you are using and any steps that you have taken in an attempt to get the item to update.
