Dr Sherwin Ona

Dr. Ona is the current graduate program coordinator of the IT department, College of Computer Studies (CCS), DLSU.  Previously, he served as the research and advanced studies director of CCS from 2011-2013. As part of his research and community engagement activities under the Center for ICT for Development (CITe4D), Dr Ona currently heads the Open Government Data project on Health and Rural Development.

For his international engagement, Dr Ona has worked with the UN-Asia Pacific ICT for Development Center, the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)-Telecommunications Committee and International Development Research Center (IDRC) of Canada. He also served with the Philippine Air Force as an active duty officer from 2001-2005. Having finished his Basic Air Force Officer Course in 2001, Dr Ona received specialized training on Civil Military Operations, Psychological Warfare and Small Unit Operations.

At present, Dr Ona is a senior consultant for the Department of Budget and Management in its Medium term IT Harmonization Initiative (MITHI). MITHI is a program under the Aquino Administration to ensure government interoperability through ICT.
