Ivan Rodríguez López : Curriculum Vitae

Ivan Rodríguez López (b. 1985) Independent researcher, member of the Group for the Study and Promotion of Egyptology in Cuba. Software engineer, major in Software Management (University of Computer Science - UCI, 2019); and holds a master degree in History and Culture, with a major in Cuban Aboriginal Archaeological Heritage (Universidad de Holguín, 2015). Founded “Per Kemet” Gathering Group at the UCI in 2007, supported by the University Students Federation (FEU) History Cathedra, to promote participation and discussions on the Ancient Egyptian culture. Joined the Group for the Study and Promotion of Egyptology in Cuba since 2008 and enrolled in all their activities and particularly teaching Egyptian hieroglyphs, formerly at the Cuban Arab Union (UAC). He was also member of the Association of Young Writers and Artist in Cuba, Asociación Hermanos Saíz (AHS) since 2010 to 2022; member of the Editorial Council in the municipality of Báguanos since 2011; from the Union of Cuban Historians (UNHIC) since 2015 and the Association for Students of Egyptology since 2019.

Collaborates with the Egyptian Curator at the National Museum of Fine Arts (MFA of Havana) in translating hieroglyphic texts from the Museum´s collection for more than ten years. Lecturer in every National Egyptological Event (Jornada Científica de Egiptología) since its first edition in 2010, with presentations based on specific artifacts from the Egyptian Collection at the MFA of Havana, and in other forums, promoting the study of Egyptology in Cuba. Collaborated with Totenbuch Projekt from the University of Bonn, Germany (2011), in the spell sequence of papyrus Havana (TM 134426). Guest professor at the MFA of Havana, conceived and taught the first post degree course of Egyptian grammar in the country: “Introducción a los jeroglíficos del egipcio medio” in 2012 and in following years, along with other materials, courses and lectures. Carried out a survey (2013-2015) of the aboriginal archaeological settlements in the municipality of Báguanos, Cuba, as well as a study and cataloguing of the institutional and private collections with local artifacts in three provinces, study that led to his MA dissertation and a book (2019). His research on papyrus Havana produced several articles and a book (published by Harrassowitz Velag, 2021). Professor at the Municipal Centre of the University of Holguín at Báguanos since 2022.
