Teaching Experience

Business and Technology instructional experience was gained from within the corporate and higher education arenas.  Subjects taught include, E-commerce, Unix Shell scripting, PC Operating Systems, Accounting, & Principals of Purchasing.  During the period of teaching at Tomball College, multiple opportunities arose to assist in the full faculty experience.  These activities included book selection and subsequent adoption for multiple courses. There was also the development of new software project management curriculum and developing online Unix tutorial application server.  Other instructional positions included Corporate e-Commerce Instructor, Substitute Instructor for Cy-Fair ISD, Bank Teller Instructor, and Company level security protocol instructor during Operation Desert Storm.

 

ITT Technical Institute Fall 2006 - Present

Information Technology Department Chair

This position entails administrative and managerial duties that include scheduling classes, hiring and managing faculty, and departmental accreditation compliance procedures. During this time, the department has grown into offering Associates as well Bachelor’s degrees in IT areas.  Responsibilities of this position also include mentoring students and preparing them for the corporate environment.  This mentoring was facilitated by founding the independent organization “The IT Mentor’s Conference” in Houston Texas.  This organization is based on assisting IT students find compatible corporate mentors that are currently working in the IT industry.

 

Tomball College Spring 2003 - 2006

Computer Technology Adjunct Instructor

This position allowed for the instruction of college credit bearing computer technology courses.  This entailed class preparation as well as providing individual attention to each student as required. WebCT and traditional preparation is implemented in order to maximize student involvement.  The courses instructed include Introduction to PC Operating Systems, Introduction to Computers, & Microcomputer Applications.  This specifically requires establishing lab curriculum that can provide the students with practical exposure to hands on computing concepts.

E4 Technology Services 2002 - Present

IS Business Consultant /Owner

Supported the IS department function for various small & mid size firms.  This includes planning IT form & functionality within the current business plan.  Providing leadership for several client personnel as it related to technology decisions was the key to project success.  Installation and support of technology implementations was coordinated within a team of full and part time personnel.

 

 Accenture 1998 - 2002

Technology Consultant

This position required using technical and managerial planning skills for multiple clients within a variety of Oil & Gas computing environments.  Client projects were typically completed in very un-defined and fluid environments.  Because of these varying projects, the knowledge of both the business plan and intent of the specific client was paramount to the success of the firm.  As a technology consultant, I was often responsible for managerial as well as line duties within the same project.  Projects typically lasted between three to nine months. 

   

Bank of America Texas N.A. 1994-1998

Customer Service Manager

Responsible for the operations of local branch, and varied customer service related issues.  This ranged from opening and maintaining accounts, to reconciling all branch operations to comply with all applicable regulations.  The branch won several awards ranging from community service accolades to Most Effective Regional Branch.

  

Prairie View A&M University 1990 - 1994

Director of Veteran’s Affairs           

Scope of responsibilities included, system diagnosis, analysis, and process implementation of University-wide Veteran's Affairs Department.  This was needed in order to re-establish eligibility for federal and state veteran’s benefits. Supervised and scheduled an office staff of between three and five individuals.  The small team that was put in place was responsible for coordinating and maximizing the effectiveness of the internal and external operations of the department. This was done not only for the local campus, but for all satellite operations as well.  This led to an award winning recognition from the President of the University.

  

United States Army Reserve 1987-1994

SP/4 - Maintenance Motor Pool Clerk /

Security Lead for Operation Desert Storm

Scope of responsibilities included, maintaining of company level vehicle repair and maintenance issues.  This included scheduling repairs, maintenance, repair parts, and operation of the motor pool.

During Operation Desert Storm, responsibilities expanded to maintain secure operations for battalion level motor pool.  This consisted of coordinating with other companies and security forces in order to maximize efficient and effective security protocols.
