Raphael Zion Itai Yohanan Nur Laurent

Raphael ZIYN (Zion Itai Yohanan Nur Laurent) is a Principal Creative whose work bridges intelligence and security studies with a wide spectrum of humanistic inquiry. Autistic and ADHD, Raphael approaches research as a pattern-seeking practice, bringing together insights from theology, Indigenous worldviews, visual culture, music, and the digital humanities to examine how narratives both shape and are shaped by power, (in)equity, and (in)security. After many years at the University of Oxford culminating in a Bachelor of Theology focused on Black Liberation Theology and its antecedents, Raphael developed a deep affinity for libraries and archives as living engines of memory and imagination. He is now reading for an MA in Intelligence & Security Studies, interrogating narratives that have both upheld and resisted imperial structures. Grounded in community‑action research, Raphael facilitates equitable partnerships from scoping through delivery, using storytelling as a reconciling force that charts pathways toward justice and collective empowerment. Convinced that beauty is essential to life, he weaves distinctive aesthetics into every project to underscore meaning, facilitate connection, and sustain hope. Raphael welcomes collaboration with scholars, practitioners, technologists, and artists who are eager to push disciplinary boundaries. More about his projects, talks, and experimental methodologies can be found on his website.
