Piet Stam : Curriculum Vitae

Piet Stam (1967) earned his master's degree in econometrics from Erasmus University Rotterdam and completed his PhD dissertation in health economics at the same university. Since 1998 he is member of the commission that advises Dutch government on risk equalization modeling in the health insurance sector. He is also member of the European Risk Adjustment Network (RAN) of health economists who work in the field of competitive health insurance markets, risk equalization modeling and managed care. He is co-founder of the first CAHPS-type surveys - nowadays called CQ-Index - for assessing patient experiences with health care in the Netherlands. During 2006-2008, he was project leader of the design and implementation of financial and quality incentives into the contracts of a health insurance company with physical therapists. Currently, he is partner at SiRM - Strategies in Regulated Markets and affiliated with the Institute of Health Sciences (IHS) at the Free University, Amsterdam.
