Some Tentative Questions: The following questions are focused on the topic of viral information events, and specifically, viral videos.
Are there differences in the ways that viral information spreads in different social networks?
How do viral information events, as in viral videos, emerge out of, and recursively shape, culture and thus society?
Define "viral information" in the context of new media social networks.
Are weak links (Granovetter) required for a viral event?
Do factors such as how many initial “seeds” are planted, the overlap of initial networks, network topology, and media platform type influence the speed and magnitude of a viral event?
Why do viral information events, which spread from user to user in social networks, stop spreading? In other words, how can the boundary of a viral information event be defined or characterized in terms of temporal and geodistal factors on network topologies?
What factors do people consider when choosing to post links to, say viral videos, in their own networks, thereby furthering the viral spread?
Q) Are viral videos boundary objects that straddle many overlapping "interest networks"?
