Emotion

Hi Ian: I hope you are doing well. Since I last saw you at SfAAs, I officially finished my PhD and I just got back from my graduation in Florida! I am very excited that our panel got accepted at AAAs and I am definitely interested in pursuing publishing opportunities. I have a question about the panel - why is it called the anthropology of affect as opposed to the anthropology of emotion (or something similar)? To you, what is the difference between affect and emotion? The reason I ask is that I recently realized that there have been a couple of conferences (including a panel on the AAAs years ago) that have focused on "emotions" and that there are a few research centers that study emotions (Europe and Australia). I am starting to think about framing my paper and I am just curious about the semantics. Thank you, Jennifer
