Kevin Stuart Lee

Ph.D. student in Classical Archaeology at UT-Austin.

Primary research focus - The emergence of cities and states in the Italian Iron Age c. 1000 - 100 B.C.  I am particularly interested in the potential early urbanization of Samnium in light of trends across the Italian peninsula and islands, and in the Mediterranean world more broadly, from the 6th to 4th centuries before Christ.

Favored method - Direct cross-cultural comparison

Further interests - Comparative urbanism, Landscape archaeology, Greek and Roman architecture, Late Antiquity and the medieval ("Byzantine") era of the Roman Empire, philosophy (Aristotelian-Thomistic, Stoic), Great Books
