Juan Guerrero
My work as a researcher and a teacher develops an interdisciplinary (philosophical, aesthetic and historical) reflection and analysis of contemporary art and culture. Primarily by means of a hermeneutical and phenomenological approach, I work toward refining concepts such as intersubjective memory, testimony and witnessing, body violence and public space. My work draws from ideas of several thinkers, among them: Martin Heidegger, Jacques Derrida, Hans-Georg Gadamer, Paul Ricoeur, Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Walter Benjamin in philosophy; Hans Belting and Peter Burke in history.
