2006 – Published thesis on Ramsey Theory in combinatorial mathematics.
2009 – Attended NCTM seminars on mathematics.
2008 – Worked in Rio de Janeiro Brazil for two weeks on a Federal grant researching inclusive education practices. This was a cross-cultural research effort comparing Brazil’s approach to inclusive education with the efforts here in the United States. I was one of two doctoral students leading a team for this research in Brazil during a two-week stay in July of 2008 under the direction of Dr. Sumita Chakraborti-Ghosh, a special education specialist.
2008 – Participated in a week long seminar on differentiated instruction. Since then I have given seminars on differentiated instruction to various levels of teachers for the Cheatham County school system.
2008-2010 – Served as a member of a district advocacy committee representing my high school on educational concerns and issues reporting to the central office of the district.
2009 – 2010 – Published my dissertation on school reform and professional development of teachers. I developed a model of professional development for high school teachers by use of small groups in a professional learning community setting. This model should prove to be useful in times of reform and change such as is being required by the state and federal governments today.
2010 – 2011 – Participated in an 8 day seminar on Balanced Leadership training for principals and supervisors of all levels in the field of K-12 education.
2011 – I have attended conferences on STEM education with a view toward developing this in the Cheatham County School system.
Other Accomplishments and Opportunities
1989 – 1995 – Lived in Brazil full time working as a teacher in various theology schools. This experience has made me much more sensitive to the cultural distinctions between Central and South America and the United States.
1995 – 2006 – I was a full-time minister at Joelton Church of Christ. This has given me much experience in working with people and their problems and has given me many connections throughout the community.
2009 – Was part of a research effort for one semester at TSU studying the strengths and weaknesses of the American Diploma Project and other directions that Tennessee is taking toward the federal government’s requirements with respect to No Child Left Behind.
2006 – 2010 – I completed my doctorate in education (Ed.D) which has afforded me to have experience through classes, research, projects, and observations in curriculum and instruction, administration, and special education. I have completed and published the research for my dissertation (as noted above) in the area of school reform and professional development.
2010 – I am a member of the Golden Key honor society. Membership is by invitation only based on one’s academic achievements.
