Florian Cramer investigates the transformation of art disciplines in the 21st century. Globalization and new media call into question the notions of “art” and “design” with their legacies in Western 19th/20th century aesthetics. This manifests itself, among others, in new contemporary visual culture phenomena, and a crisis of traditional concepts of (intellectual) property and authorship. The focus of Florian’s research is on contemporary art and on publishing, and their transformations in a post-digital age.
As a reader/research professor, Florian Cramer is closely affiliated to Willem de Kooning Academy and Piet Zwart Institute.
