My name is Edith Ballard. I am originally from Meridian, Mississippi, but have lived in Houston, TX since 1993. I have worked in the healthcare field for the past 20+ years at some of the best hospitals here in Houston. Most of my job roles and functions have evolved around medical billing, patient access, medical coding, auditing, revenue cycle operations, charge capture, revenue integrity and compliance. I completed my Bachelor of Science at Jackson State University, a Masters in Health Administration from the University of Phoenix, a Masters in Business Administration with a Minor in Forensic Accounting from Texas A&M-Commerce and a Masters in Health Information Management from College of St. Scholastic. I am current working on my Doctorate of Health Informatics at the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston. I hold a RHIA, CCA, CPC, COC and CRCR certifications and are active in several chapters such as HFMA, ACHE, AAPC and AHIMA.
