Donal Heidenblad

I am a doctoral student in the College of Information Studies at the University of Maryland. I am interested in how community discourse can affect the implemtaton of software projects. My research looks at the digital traces created in source control systems, listserves, twitter, blogs, bug-trackers, etc of open source software projects to capture discussions surrounding privacy and ethical issues that are important to the communit, to then relate those discussions to changes in the code, and then to best understand these phenomena to understand how to better encourage development teams to consider privacy and ethical impact of their projects.
