David Garnier is a financial professional who lives in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, with his wife. He is the Vice president of CIBC (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce) Wood Gundy and he also serves as Portfolio Manager within the company.

Garnier is involved with his community, serves as Community Director of his local Rotary Club and participates frequently in volunteer projects. As a devoted businessman, volunteer, husband and father, Garnier leads a busy-yet-rewarding life, and he plans to continue furthering each of his pursuits for the foreseeable future.

Education and Career

David Garnier of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, earned a Drafting Diploma from Channel-Port aux Basques community college. He then schooled between the University of Alberta, the University of New Brunswick and Mount Saint Vincent University for a three-year business program. He went on to complete several certification courses in finances, sales management and portfolio management.

Garnier’s professional career began with a position between 1984 and 1989 with Yellowknife Fabrication and Manufacturing. Between 1990 and 1996, he worked with London Life Insurance between positions as Sales Representative, Head Office and Sales Manager. From 1996 to 2002, Garnier held an Estate Planning Specialist and Investment Advisor position with ScotiaMcLeod. In 2003, he accepted his first role with CIBC (Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce) Wood Gundy as Investment Advisor, and he later moved up to Vice President and Portfolio Manager within the company.

Personal Life and Volunteer Work

David Garnier, a current resident of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. He was raised in Deer Lake, Newfoundland, and he attended Xavier High School in the city. Rather than take out student loans or call on family for help, Garnier worked tirelessly between university life and part-time jobs to pay for his schooling out of pocket.

In 1988, Garnier married his wife, Geraldine, and the two had a daughter named Jessica in 1992. The family was living in Halifax, Nova Scotia, at the time, and Garnier commuted between his home and London, Ontario, for work over several years. Later, the Garnier family moved to Fredericton, New Brunswick, but they soon returned to Halifax. Today, they live in the city of Dartmouth.

Garnier has played Badminton from a young age and he presently competes in the sport in his free time. He is also a member of Brightwood Golf and Country Club. Presently, he serves as the Community Director of the Dartmouth Rotary Club, the Chair of the Dartmouth General Hospital Golf Tournament and as a yearly holiday volunteer in his community. During his holiday volunteer work, Garnier and his family deliver 250 dinners to families in need each Christmas.

David Garnier is also a member of the Nova Scotia and Newfoundland Snowmobilers Association and has contributed to a number of various community projects in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, serving as Chair.
