Christian Günther
Christian Günther is a researcher at the Department of Digital Humanities at the University of Wuppertal. He studied history and philosophy at the University of Bonn and completed his PhD at the University of Cologne in July 2024 with a thesis on virtual reality at memorial sites, published in October 2024 by transcript (Virtual Reality und Authentizität
). His research focuses on the history of National Socialism, especially on the Gestapo, resistance under National Socialism, forced labour, and digital history education. Prior to his position at the University of Wuppertal, he worked for numerous museums and memorial sites, including the NS-Documentation Center of the City of Cologne. He has contributed to several publications and exhibitions, such as Trumpf (Streb, 2018), Opposition und Widerstand in Köln 1933–1945, and Gestapo Köln.
