Can I change the way items are sorted in my library?

Yes, you can sort the Zotero library view by most item fields, including Creator, Title, Year, Publication, Extra, Volume, Call Number, Date Modified, etc.), as well as by whether it has notes and/or attachments. To make more field columns visible, click the Add Columns button at the top-right of the Zotero center pane (or top pane in Stacked view). To sort on a column, click the column title at the top of the Zotero library pane. Click again to sort in the reverse direction. You can reorganize columns by dragging their titles to the left or right.

You can change the secondary sort field for each primary sort field (e.g., when sorting by Creator, sort items by the same author by Year) by click on the Add Columns button at the top-right of the Zotero center pane (or top pane in Stacked view).

Note: When sorting on the Date field, Zotero will sort on the the parsed recognizable date parts (e.g., day, month, year), not the free-form text entered into the field. Hover the cursor over the item's Date field to view the parsed date.

View the Sorting Screencast for a demonstration of Zotero's sorting capabilities.
