Exporting and Importing Zotero Citations

If you are using Zotero to cite in your LibreOffice document and open it with Google Docs (or vice-versa), the Zotero citation links will be lost. To retain active Zotero citations when moving between Google Docs and LibreOffice, an extra export and import step is required.

Going from LibreOffice to Google Docs

1. In LibreOffice, open the Zotero Document Preferences 2. Click “Export Document” and press “OK” in the dialog that appears 3. Save your document 4. Upload the document to Google Drive and open it with Google Docs 5. Open the Zotero Document Preferences 6. Click “Import Document” and press “OK” in the dialog that appears
