Need more than one Zotero library? You can use the Preferences–>Advanced Settings→Storage Location setting to switch between multiple Zotero libraries, including a local Zotero library (on your computer) and a network Zotero library. Using multiple Firefox profiles is also a viable option.

Zotero 1.0.x cannot delete development styles. You can, however, use Reset Translators and Styles in the Advanced tab of the Zotero prefs and reinstall just the ones you want. Zotero 2.0, on the other hand, has a full-featured citation style manager.

To see all the collections an item is in, hold down the “Option” key on Macs or the “Control” key on Windows. This will highlight all collections that contain the selected record.

Press ”+” (plus) on the keyboard within the collections list or items list to expand all nodes and ”-” (minus) to collapse them.

To see how many items you have, click an item in the middle column and Select All (Command-A on OS X or Control-A on Windows). A count of selected items will appear in the right column.

Can't adjust the size of the Zotero pane downwards? The tag selector probably is in the way (it has a minimum height). Close it by clicking the show/hide tag selector button ( ) and try to resize again.

Right-clicking on any metadata text field which might logically use title case allows you to toggle between title and lower cases.

Holding the Shift button while dragging and dropping an item into a text document will insert a citation, rather than the usual full reference.

Zotero supports the standard Firefox shortcut keys for tab/window opening: Ctrl/Cmd-click for a new tab behind, Ctrl/Cmd-Shift-click for a new tab in front, and Shift-click for a new window.

You can use and sync image in your notes in Zotero 2.0 by following these steps: 1. Save your image as an item attachment in Zotero. 2. Double-click on the attachment from within Zotero. The image will show up in your browser window. 3. Open the note you are editing. 4. Click on the image in the main browser window and drag it to the appropriate place in your note. 5. That's all! The image should now display properly and sync between computers.

Manually adding a number of authors to a Zotero item? You can use Shift+Enter after typing each name as a faster alternative to clicking the ”+” button.
