Dr. Bruce Davis
After graduating from Roy High School in 1972, I served as a Corpsman with the U.S. Marine Corps and Naval Amphibious Forces in the Pacific at the end of the Vietnam War. Upon returning to Utah in 1976, I went to school on the GI Bill, earning a BS in Business Administration from Weber State in 1979, an MBA in Business Administration from Utah State University in 1980, and a PhD in Leadership and Policy from the University of Utah.
After receiving an MBA in 1980, I worked in compensation management and labor relations for ten years (Utah Power & Light Co., PacifiCorp, and Thiokol Corporation). In 1990 I left corporate life for Weber State University, where I taught Business Administration courses and served successively as Director of Business and Economic Development, Director/Dean of the WSU Davis Campus, and now as Vice Provost and Dean.
I continue to teach courses in leadership, management, and entrepreneurship in the Goddard School of Business and the Dumke College of Health Professions. I have an identical twin, Dr. Brian Davis, who is the Presidential Distinguished Professor of Business Administration at Weber State University.
After the terrorist attacks of 9-11, I served as the KVC for Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines a combat infantry unit. Fox 2/23 received the Presidential Unit Citation for combat action in Iraq.
I currently serve on several governing boards, including McKay-Dee Hospital, Utah Certified Development Company, Davis Chamber of Commerce, Davis Arts Council, NxLevel Education Foundation, and the NUAMES school board. I formerly served on the boards of the American Red Cross for Northern Utah, the United Way of Davis County, and Enable Industries, Inc.. I also co-founded and for eight years sat on the board of OSSS, an aerospace company that designed, manufactured, and provided launch integration services for low-earth orbit satellite systems.
