My current doctoral thesis is an exploration of the manifestations of modernity present in contemporary Cambodia. I intend to identify and analyse the reference points for Cambodian imaginings of modernity, and their manifestations both in Cambodia, and amongst the larger Khmer ethnoscape. In doing so, I intend to illustrate not only the modernities present in Cambodia, but the ways in which Cambodia engages with global and regional modernities.
