Tyson Eckerle

Tyson Eckerle graduated with a Masters of Environmental Science and Management from the University of California, Santa Barbara's Donald Bren School in 2009 with a specialization in Water Resources Management and the Political Economy of the Environment.  As part of the Bren Hall Sustainability Committee Tyson served as a self-appointed "worm-whisperer" for the school composting project.  Prior to coming to the Bren School, he spent five years working as a biologist and environmental manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in San Francisco, California.

Tyson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology, with minors in Psychology and English, from the University of California, Davis (2002), where he was heavily involved in advising services and president of the waterski team.  He grew interested in tropical biology conservation during his intensive quarter of study in Costa Rica, and hopes to work within the climate change field to encourage sustainable development and equitable distribution of climate change responsibility.  He enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, cycling, basketball, baseball, soccer, water and snow skiing, and has been recognized as a sub-par guitar player and surfer.
