"Citation is not defined" error

4. insert page number

5. get message "an error occurred communicating with zotero, make sure Firefox is open and try again.

At first I thought the trouble was with sources I imported from EndNote but this does not seem to be the case--it happens with freshly imported sources from the web. I can get a copy of one of the references that's failing if necessary.
