Description (last modified by dstillman)
Zotero auto-saves every few seconds in notes, but in a large db the saving takes 15-30 sec or more so I have to stop and wait. I can only type about five words between saves.

Elena--do you still find this to be slow?

Just tried it right now and it seems faster, even the slight delay for sorting seems shorter.

note entry in big saved searches is too slow because zotero automatically saves, re-searches and re-sorts during entry--i have to move the parent item into a temporary collection to take notes (but in "my library" adding notes is fast enough)

- Description modified (diff)
- Milestone changed from 1.0 RC 4 to 1.5 Alpha 1
- Priority changed from minor to major
- Summary changed from speed up notes entry to Speed up notes entry
- Version changed from 1.0 to 1.5
I think the only way to speed up saved searches will be to use a fulltext word index, since any change to the note could result in the note no longer matching the search results, so a research is necessary.
Regular note edits do seem to be doing (two?) full re-sorts, though, and that should be fixed.

One thing to do: don't re-sort if whatever displays in the items list (first line up to x max characters) hasn't changed.
