see example here: http://storytelling.concordia.ca/digitalhistory/uploaded/keywordslinkedtonotes.jpg this seems like an obvious bug too. tags remain grey and unclickable even if i expand all item types to show notes.

I think the search question relates to this--showing greyed out parent and sibling items would be great I think--see my reply to that and also to the "child note" search here: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/705/working-with-notes/#Comment_2585

(In [1411]) Fixes #616, Tags don't appear in tag selector for child items
Also, child items in search results now always display in context, with the non-matching rows in gray. May later implement Elena's idea to show an ellipsis to toggle non-matching items.
Note: These changes need testing -- I may not have gotten all the various conditions (view mode, quicksearch, tag selector, advanced search, drag-and-drop) exactly right.
Yeah, I've known about this problem--it stems from child items not technically belonging to collections. Should be possible to fix.
