We should have installers by the time the plugin is Final.
The Mac version could probably just have a folder alias in its DMG.

Note the discussion and the working prototype in need of testing submitted by Rintze Zelle at the zotero-dev group.

On the forum a user reported that he succesfully installed the plugin under Vista. So I'm pretty sure the plugin now works under Windows 2000, XP and Vista in combination with Office 2000 to 2007.
I guess I don't get much feedback from the Zotero developers because you all use MacOS X. To show what the installer looks like, I added some screenshots to this ticket. If you don't have any suggestions, I think the installer (version 0.4) can be made available on the Zotero-webpage. It is probably handy to rename it to ZoteroWordPluginInstaller1.0a3.exe to clarify which version of the plugin is installed. This way the installer gets some more exposure which might reveal some squashable bugs for the 1.0 release.

(In [1754]) Closes #512, Installers for Word plugin
Adding read/write DMG to use as a template -- contains Zotero.dot, .DS_Store with appropriate view settings, and an alias to the install folder
I created this DMG from a staging directory with this command:
hdiutil makehybrid -hfs -hfs-volume-name Zotero.dot -hfs-openfolder staging staging -o Template.dmg
The final read-only, compressed DMG can be made with this command:
hdiutil convert -format UDZO Template.dmg -o Zotero-Word-Plugin-1.0b1-Mac.dmg
Sucessive DMGs can probably be made by mounting Template.dmg, copying an updated Zotero.dot into them, and running the last command.
Commands from http://jwz.livejournal.com/608927.html
Should have these ready by the time 1.0 Final is out, at which point a beta of the Word plugin should be available.
