Description
Recent forum posts, most recently http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/15961/, show that people are confused about the current installation procedure for Linux and Windows. Users expect an application to be handled by Add & Remove Programs in Windows, with a Start menu entry. Similarly, they expect it to be handled by the package manager with an entry in the desktop environment's application launcher in Linux.

We need this on Linux to register a protocol handler for zotero:// URIs, so that clicking "Zotero" opens standalone from the extension when in connector mode (or, alternatively, we could use X11 APIs to do this). It would be great if some enterprising Fedora and/or Debian/Ubuntu packagers could take this on.
