Description (last modified by dstillman)
There are a some minor cosmetic issues with Zotero on Windows and Linux. Most conspicuously, the tabs look a little off in Windows (the background around the tabs is different from the background elsewhere, and it's missing a bar at the top). The background behind the toolbar is different on Linux.

From http://groups.google.com/group/zotero-dev/browse_thread/thread/b2ab8c9aea8fc971:
Issues with tabs in metadata pane on Linux/Windows, possibly related to the background settings mentioned above. Looks fine on OS X.
Also: "The close button in the search field needs top and right padding" (on Linux, I assume)

(In [1174]) Addresses #141, Fix cosmetic issues on Windows and Linux
- Use default background for Zotero pane and get along with custom styles a bit more
- Reduce padding in tag selector
- Reduce margins around trees, reducing space between panes a bit
- Hide splitter below collections pane when tag selector is hidden

From http://groups.google.com/group/zotero-dev/browse_thread/thread/ab95b151a0aeb9d2:
background colour specifications. A lot of people are using different
colour settings for their desktops so hard-coding colours is in general
not a good idea. For example I run Kubuntu and have my own KDE colour
theme with white text on greenish background throughout all my
applications. Thus having white or close-to-white background makes
white text unreadable and looks annoyingly bright.

I seem to recall after trying this that this makes Zotero appear considerably less attractive on OS X. Need to find a solution that works well on all platforms.
