Description

Refresh date accessed field with current timestamp when using the "view" button or a link stored inside Zotero to view a live page.

I'll let others weigh in, but I'm not sure we want to do this. It seems to me that the access date should correspond to when the object was first accessed, and users might inadvertently modify this date when clicking "View."

I agree with Sean. Doesn't one generally cite the original date, whereas one might visit the page many times while writing?

If your looking at the archived page, then yes, you definitely want to refer to when that document was downloaded as the date accessed. However, I think the commenters in the thread have a point about links. In any event, it probably makes more sense to take this back to the forum thread for further discussion. It may well be that different kinds of researchers have different needs here in which case a pref might be best.

I agree w Sean and Dan--if users want to cite a later version of the website they can just edit the field. In theory, if the website has been edited during research, one may need to cite a later version. But changing the date every time the site is accessed is overkill.
