I sent Bruce D'Arcus (OOoBib, the Biblio RDF ontology) a copy of our field lists, and he had the following to say. It's not absolutely necessary that we make these changes, but I think he raises some valid points. Better to change this now than wait until we have to worry about migration.

bookSection|publication
bookSection|series

I'd be specific on the above; publicationTitle and seriesTitle. There
are also, for example, series numbers.

bookSection|number

A pet peeve: number is vague; use issue. The prism people are trying to
fix this mistake because they now realize they sometimes want to store
document numbers (say for an article). So they're now trying to get
around that with hacks like articleNumber. If they just had volume,
issue and document it'd be better.

Also, are you storing an access date for online resources, so you can
at least include them in citations?
