Everything is simply placed in the order listed in the multiple sources column. Thus one gets (Cronon, 1991; Cross, 2000; Burnham, 1994; Adelman & Aron, 1999) instead of (Adelman & Aron, 1999; Burnham, 1994; Cronon, 1991; Cross, 2000). In contrast if you originally create the citation with all four works they are properly alphabetized.
