Philippe Roi and Tristan Girard

Philippe ROI was born in Paris in 1959 and is an independent researcher in neuroscience. He was the Editing Director of 'Le Courrier de l'Intelligence Artificielle' from 1986 to 1987, and director of a surgery specialising in the European Commission for Industrial and Scientific Partnerships from 1988to 1993. He is currently working as a consultant cognitician.

Tristan GIRARD was born in Saint-Cloud, France in 1969 and is an independent researcher in neuroscience. He is a global designer, and graduated from Créapôle-ESDI (Ecole Supérieur de Design Industriel) in 1995. He worked freelance for several years, for graphic and product design agencies. He is currently specialising in Archaeological, Anatomical and Biological Drawings and 3D Modelling.

Since 1996, we have dedicated ourselves to writing 'La Théorie Sensorielle', aiming to identify the rules of interaction between the human mind and the environment. The main thrust of our research is understanding how the brain builds up its inferences, devises mental models, designs inventions, perceives space and time and makes decisions according to its motivations, its experience and its emotions. Our research has led us to the discovery of ‘Sensorial Analogies’ ('Les Analogies Sensorielles'). These have enabled us to connect cognitive neuroscience and archaeological discoveries, historical research and behavioural studies in both archaic and contemporary societies.
