Duties: Acquire & catalog all library materials. Advise on donor recognition issues related to gifts-in-kind.  Research, recommend, select, and assist in the implementation of library automation systems and other electronic resources with the IT department. Manage collections and identify items needing conservation and preservation treatments.  Develop and maintain records, policies, and practices for the library’s operations. Present management reports to Senior Staff/Board. Supervise all activities of the Archivist, Library Assistants, Library Interns, and Volunteers. Provide reference and research support. Support and promote all exhibits and other functional program uses of the Library facilities. Write grants to gain external support for the collections and programs as needed. Advise the Executive Director on all inquiries regarding library usage, collection, donations, and other routine matters.

Position/Title: Automation Coordinator

Duties: Coordinated implementation of CLS Center for Library Automation services and training for CLA members. Provided automation, grant writing assistance, and other library consulting to system members, such as the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and the Adler Planetarium. Assisted with the administration of CLS' LAN and WAN until June 1999. Worked with vendors to establish consortial arrangements for members. Oversaw FirstSearch, SILO, ILLINET, OCLC Cataloguing,d ILL, and Z, etc. access for members. Researched current methods and practices regarding library automation. Served as CLS’ moderator for several of its electronic mailing lists, its blog, and its online community. Served as representative for CLS for the statewide system automation group (PIPE), statewide cataloging standards group, and at er regional and state groups as designated. Supervised and coordinated the work of professional project staff.

Duties: Performed all cataloging (original and copy) in English and modern foreign languages with the support of graduate assistants using the OCLC database, MARC formats, AACR2R rules, and LC Subject Headings in both the LC and Dewey classification systems. Taught bibliographic instruction. Maintained the university's archives. Performed all maintenance, preservation, acquisitions, and cataloging of materials for the library's special collections, in particular the Historic Children's liLiteratureollection. Designed exhibits for the gallery adjacent to the rare book room. Answered reference questions and served as bibliographer for the sciences.
