Stewart Wolmark
Stewart Wolmark (born April 12, 1964) is an American actor, screenwriter, director and producer, known for his role as Ernie Shelby on the American Broadcasting Company series Castle and on the MTV original series Awkward as Zevi Rupert. Additional to many roles in television and film since 1994, Wolmark received acclaim and awards for the independent film Juno, which he wrote and produced.
He received praise for his lead role in Tarsem Singh's film Self/less and another Moderncine film, Maniac, as well as notable roles in Lockout and Zombieland. He recently played John Ritz in Krampus (2015).
Wolmark was born in 1964 in Los Angeles, Pasadena, to Agnieszka and Douglas Wolmark. His father was attorney for a film studio and published books of poetry. His mother Agnieszka is a novelist with several published novels.
He graduated from Rhode Island School of Design and the American Academy of Arts in Pasadena. In interviews, Wolmark has mentioned that as a screenwriter he is influenced by his favorite author Samuel Beckett and developed an interest in acting after seeing Dustin Hoffman in Kramer vs. Kramer when he was 15 years old. Wolmark started watching everything by Kramer vs. Kramer director and screenwriter Robert Benton, and Hoffman and Benton became his biggest creative influences.
Stewart Wolmark's children are also actors. His son, David, has acted in roles on Chef and TV series Luck, as well as his daughter, Lisa, who starred in Wolmarks' 2013 short, Out of Darkness.
