I am a Postoctoral Fellow at the Biomedical Informatics Research Center at Stanford University.  My work focuses on developing methods to measure health care value.  Since the structured data that mainly cosists of coded diagnostic and surgical codes in electronic health records is limited in breadth and depth, I apply text-mining to extract additional structured information from clinical notes so that is can be used for reporting.  I am also interested in identifying clinical and non-clinical health factors that contribute to cost blooms, and probabalistic methods for learning the evloution of diseases that are not well-understood, such as chronic kidney disease.
