Personal Profile

 

A third year Aerospace Engineering student with a physical disability. I am competent in the Maths and Physics that an engineer is likely to face. Has a deep and profound knowledge of Aviation History and specialises in Military Aircraft and engines around the Second World War Period. Confident with a keen and dedicated approach to problem solving and the ability to apply himself fully regardless of task.

Education

 

9/2009 – Present: BEng. 2nd year (Hons) in Aerospace Engineering, Swansea University

Positions of Responsibility

Head boy at Secondary School and met lots of supporters and patrons of the school. As the main drummer for the school, I performed in various special assemblies and music performances.  I was co-captain/administrator of the schools Wheelchair Hockey and Wheelchair football teams for two years. These positions gave me the ability to work and interact under pressure.     

Achievements

 

A member of the GB Boccia team

 

Individually:   Youngest ever British Champion (14). British and National Champion four years running, unbeaten in Britain for 4 and a half years. Came 8th at European Championships Portugal 2005, Came 14th at World Championships Rio 2006, Won Gold in World Cup Vancouver 2007, came 14th Paralympic games Beijing 2008 and Won Gold in European Championships Porto 2009. My world ranking is 4th.

 

GB Team:        Won Silver at European Championships Portugal 2005, Won Bronze at World Championships Rio 2006, Gold in World Cup Vancouver 2007, won Gold at Paralympic games Beijing 2008 and won silver at European Championships Porto 2009. Our current world ranking is 2nd.         

Awards:                      BBC South Sports disabled sportsman of the year 2007. Hampshire and IOW disability sports man of the year 2008

Interests and Hobbies

Reading:         I particularly enjoy historical novels and autobiographies of pilots and the experiences of Air warfare. I enjoy classic novels like “Lord of the Rings” and modern novels like “Angels and Demons”. I also read aviation magazines like “Flypast” and “Aeroplane”, which keep me up to date with warbird projects.



Sport:              I enjoy watching Football, Rugby, F1 and Snooker on TV.

 

Events:            I particularly enjoy going to Air-shows. I went to Farnborough 2008 and spoke to engineers from Rolls Royce and BAe.

 

Travel                          I have planned and organised my own travel arrangements over the last few years. I have spent time all over the world through my sporting commitments and have gained the ability to cope in different cultural backgrounds.
