Sébastien Barot
I am engineer in forestry (FIF-ENGREG, Nancy, France). I have achieved a PhD thesis in 1999 about the demography of a palm tree species in the field station of Lamto in Ivory Coast. I have then made a post-doc at IIAS (International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, Austria) on the evolutionary impact of commercial fisheries. I am working for the French Institute for Researches for the Development (IRD) since 2002 on different subjects of soil ecology, mostly on aboveground-belowground interactions and nutrient cycling. In particular I have studied the effect of earthworms on plant growth and demography. Since 2011 I am working for Bioemco laboratory in Paris. In all my researches I have combined field work, experimentations in controlled conditions and mathematical modelling. Finally, in terms of application of ecological knowledge, I am strongly interested in Ecological Engineering and agro-ecology.
