I am a sociologist and social network analyst, and I’m currently a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Florida College of Nursing, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), and the Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR). My main research interests are migration and ethnicity, social networks and health disparities, and scientific and knowledge networks.

My research at the UF College of Nursing deals with social networks and health disparities, particularly in immigrant minorities. At BEBR, I work on migration and immigrant integration in Europe and the US. This was the subject of my PhD dissertation in sociology at the University of Milan, Italy, which was funded by the University’s CISEPS (Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Economics, Psychology and Social Sciences), and followed a one-year fieldwork in the Sri Lankan immigrant community in Milan.

At the CTSI and BEBR I also study networks of professional collaboration among scientists, their dynamics and impact on scientific activity, and strategies of network interventions to promote scientific research.
