As a Phd Researcher in Lancaster University, my research focus lies on the informal commerce of Recife, Brazil and the particular role that ICT (Information and Communication Technology) plays out in the daily work activities of street traders, as well as by City Council officials in their pursuit to formalize this sector and traders’ unions in their efforts to shape what formalisation is to become in practice.
