Robert Whetsel
Decorated war veteran who has worked in Information Systems since 1989. Currently, an Army Reserve Signal Officer (Cyber Warrior) for the North Capital Region Cyber Operations Command and a Senior Big Data Computer Scientist working for the Defense Information Systems Agency. Also, founder of the Open Business Foundation and the former CEO for RavenSong Open Technologies and FlightLinux. When not pondering difficult, unmanageable problems, preferably those involving the philosophical debate of the Singularity, I spend all my free time pursuing a Doctor of Computer Science degree and attempt to further the body of knowledge around Artificial Intelligence and Big Data.
Work: Senior Computer Big Data Scientist for Enterprise Engineering Service Engineering Division - role of a subject matter expert working in “All Things Data” strategic planning, policy, oversight, engineering and research & development for the DoD and DISA.
Army Reserve Officer: 25A-N9 (Signal Officer - Cyber Warrior) - develop strategic Cyber mission plans for Brigade and mission partners such as other DoD agencies, NGOs for joint missions and operations.
Research interests lay in the fields of artificial intelligence and big data facilitating the exchange of information among machines and humans. In particular, working to expand my data research by contributing to the overall body of work in the big data problem space using data abstractions and visualizations concepts including Data Pattern Reduction Theory and Multidimensional Model for Knowledge Representation based on previous research work. Currently I am exploring the use of game theory in reducing the asymptotic computational complexity in a distributive system when a node joins a distributive system already in computational load; the late join problem for my doctoral dissertation work.
