I am Professor of Building Usability and Visualisation and am a member of the Usability of Spatial Environments (USE) Research Centre. My research interests are into the relationship between the spatial layout of buildings and environments and their effect on how people move around, understand and interact in those spaces. I am an expert in space syntax analysis and have spent the last six years collaborating closely with cognitive scientists and psychologists on building usability. I am passionately interested in the use of virtual environments, not just as a visualisation tool, but as a method for researching human factors in the built environment.
