I'm a Cuban-American raised in Miami, Florida.  I love Cuban coffee and a good flan.  Currently, I'm a PhD candidate at Michigan State University in the department of anthropology.  My dissertation research concerns the formation of national identity among Palestinian refugees in Jordan.  I am interested in questions of identity, nations and nationalism, Middle East studies, Muslim societies and Islam, migrants and refugees (displaced peoples), human rights, and diaspora studies.
