Prash Naidu

Hi there, thank you for stopping by. While my Zotero bibliography gets organized [soon!] here's a short note about myself and my interests.

I'm a PhD student in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. My interests include social-semiotic theories, language and culture, indigenous languages of East Timor, Mambai ontology, language and exchange system, hydrocarbons (crude oil and natural gas in particular), oil rig talk, and value theories.

I have been conducting sociocultural and linguistic fieldwork with the Mambai in southwestern East Timor since 2009 and several long-term stays are being planned for the coming years. A film project about crude oil as/in process is in the development/pre-production phase. Stay tuned for more updates and appropriate web lit!
