There are many charitable organizations that a police officer (or anyone) can get involved in around the Denver, CO area. Some of these non-profits include:
1.Metro Volunteers – This organization will help to match you up with the best non-profits for your skills and qualifications. Even if you have no prior experience, they will surely be able to find something that will help you to greatly affect the surrounding community.
2.Volunteers of America Colorado Branch – This is a faith based charity that helps individuals and families who are struggling and need assistance in getting to the right place in life. They generally focus on some of the most at risk groups including children, the elderly, those who have found themselves homeless, victims of domestic abuse, and low-income families.
3.Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado – This is a great charity for those who have a special place in their heart for the environment. They provide a plethora of environmental services including but not limited to trail upkeep, management of invasive animals, rebuilding of habitats, urban and rural gardening, disaster restoration, preservation of historical sites, and much more.
Any of these non-profit organizations can be found online and you can either contact them by phone, e-mail, or simply find out where their headquarters are and stop in to see how you can help.
There are also many other ways that police and members of the public are able to help out around the community by volunteering outside of an organization. Here are some things that you can do to help Brunst and others keep the community safe for everyone:
1.Pick up trash – You do not have to necessarily be involved with an organization to simply pick up litter that you see around town. Just make sure to use gloves and to sanitize afterwards.
2.If you see something, say something – If you see any illegal activity or domestic abuse/violence, do not be afraid to call the police. You can even make an anonymous tip to keep your identity safe. This is a slogan that Paul Brunst and many others in law enforcement community are encouraging everyone to remember and take to heart. You can save a life simply by providing information.
