Thirtysomething foreign correspondent, completing a DPhil, buying loo roll on eBay.  Journalistic interests include politics in Pakistan and the Levant; academic ones, the UK Parliament, the domestic politics of Yank policymaking towards China and Russia, and security studies in the British, Irish and EU contexts.  Typically I get distracted and write about arts, literature and culture instead.
