Oscar Navas

Oscar Navas was born in a Spanish family and developed an early interest in art.  After studying painting he left his home town and moved to New York and lived in an artist colony on the city’s outskirts for some time. Mixing his personal, dreamlike imagery with hints of realism made Oscar Navas experiment with new art forms and produce numerous large-scale respected works.  He began to learn the basics of drawing during his childhood, and more importantly he absorbed the world around him, storing away the imagery and themes that would feature largely in most of his later work. At age 18, Oscar Navas enrolled at private art school and began his formal education in painting. After finishing school he began establishing his own personal style which featured a more dreamlike unreality and the people, places and imagery that were close to his heart.
